About

About this guide

I've spent more than fifteen years in fundraising, using many of the tools reviewed here. Most of that time has been in and around education and the arts, where budgets are tight and a software decision follows you for years.

This site organizes fundraising software by shop size, because that is what actually determines what you should run. A $400k shop and a $6M shop need different stacks, and a recommendation that ignores your budget isn't a recommendation.

How the guide works

Every price on this site comes from the vendor's published pricing or, where pricing is quoted per organization, from ranges vendors and their customers report. Every recommendation names the shop size and situation it fits. Free tools are covered alongside paid ones, and the strongest advice on most pages is the simplest: shortlist two or three tools, book the demos, and test each one against your own data. A good demo will show you things no review can.

Spotted a stale price or a recommendation that missed the mark? Tell me. Reader corrections are what keep a guide like this accurate.
